Him and Song are having a gag with Moses and have nicked his shirt.

All over Twitter. Good to see team spirit from the off

Soldo

The usual idea is for them to wear a shirt and to show the back of another shirt with their name and number on, not quite sure what Jelavic is doing.

Has OTB said he is a good 4th choice striker yet?

Never really understood all this standing there with a shirt in your hands like a matadors cape... just wear the fucking thing and give a salute or something... never happened in Mooro's time

Bang on.

I tell you what. It's no more square pegs in round holes is it?

I think we should be quite proud of G&S after today. I know that will be hard for some people and, yes, I agree they are sometimes frustrating fuck-wits. But, Jesus, they have put their money where their mouth's are today. They have seriously fucking done the biz.

Well done G&S.

I hope a deluded Mohammed Diame was chasing him out of Hull screaming:

"But what are you doing, Hull City are bigger than West Ham we are a top six team!"

Terrible jeans...But I'll trust in Slaven's judgement on him.

Who knows!

I really like Carroll and I think he's a good player, but we really can't assume he'll stay fit all season at this point (which I really hate to admit, given all the negativity surrounding the player from certain posters)

I think it's a bit cloudy over when Valencia will actually return as well, so I think we really need the options.

I like that we will have the flexibility to play two up front as well. Jelavic can play a role similar to Carroll and the two can play together if we're chasing a game and want to get the ball in the box quickly. Other than that, I think you can team either of them with any of Zarate, Valencia, Sakho and have a partnership that ought to work. Should give us a lot of options on how to attack the opposition.

Hahaha Chiles makes Fordy look like he's knows about football.

Closer to the truth would be 8 in 20 games if we're counting a game as 90 minutes and not 3 minutes or 9 minutes etc etc

Looks trim enough.... but you'd have thought someone not 18 might dress better.

Re: Jelavic having medical.
I would have saved our money on this one, having said that, the club has shown some real intent in the past 24 hrs so it would be churlish to criticise this signing. In addition, you would think that the manager, having worked with him before has chosen him, that being the case, it is good that he is backed.

Re: Jelavic having medical.
Isn't Carroll a lot closer than December though?

I wonder if Bilic is still pondering playing two up front - I think he'd love to try the diamond midfield, and used it in pre-season. Then the case for getting a striker in is much stronger, I concede.

The bottom line, I have my usual complaint about getting older players in on big money - in a year's time we end up with a player who could just be another drain on resources who is virtually impossible to shift. There is no way he appreciates as an asset - not a chance. And hand on heart I'm just not excited to see him play for us.

I think Payet would be good up front as well, he's just a good player- but I'd be really worried about taking him out of his best position and having no-one who is a natural striker.

I agree wide is where we've had the big problem and it's been largely resolved. I do think that we'd have had no need for a striker if Carroll and Valencia were fit, but it was just too big a risk going until December with only Sakho as an out and out striker available to us. (I wouldn't really want Zarate having to lead the line unless there were no other option)

Jelavic is a definite upgrade on Maiga, and Sakho, Carroll, Valencia, Zarate and Jelavic is a really strong group of players for a club like us.

Re: Jelavic having medical.
4th choice
Lots of PL experience
Upgrade on Maiga/CFC/Lee
Well known to the manager
Sensible price

No complaints at all about this signing.

Now Jelavic is here, I totally agree. Although I have a theory that Payet would be very good up front in the sort of system we played at Anfield.

I think the big gaps were in the wide positions. Thankfully Lanzini looks like he can fill a role, and now we have Moses - I think that was the key issue in the squad, and maybe still is.

The fact Bilic wanted him is good enough for me seeing he knows his game.
